About Kylyn Christy
My Story & Why I Call Myself An Overcomer:
I’ve been a professional artist for over a decade, but the journey here has been anything but ordinary.
As a child, I was often too sick to play outside like the other kids. While my body rested, my imagination ran wild. Painting became my escape - my freedom. I’d lose myself in scenes of mountaintops, Paris picnics, and Venetian gondolas. Art let me go everywhere my body couldn’t.
With God's help and an incredible support system, I eventually recovered. I pursued art full-time, married my best friend, and started living the vibrant life that I once only painted.
Then in 2021, everything changed again. A devastating car accident left me unconscious, injured, and facing a long road of physical and neurological recovery. I had to relearn how to walk, how to move, even how to think clearly again. I faced anxiety, depression, and PTSD head-on. And once again, art became my refuge.
From all that I have experienced firsthand how powerful creativity can be for healing, for hope, for joy. That’s why I paint and share my story. I hope to inspire others to tap into their creativity and be able to see the light at the end of their tunal. That is why I founded Painted Leaf Studio as well.

Artist. Teacher. Dreamer. Overcomer.
What I Believe:
-
I believe in the power of play.
-
I believe everyone is creative.
-
I believe that can heal our brain & spirit
-
I believe joy isn’t found in perfection,
but in the act of creating.
What Inspires My Art?
Rooted in the rolling hills of rural Idaho, shaped by the lakes of Minnesota, and now settled in the mountains of the Treasure Valley, my life has always been surrounded by beauty and that beauty fuels my work. I’m endlessly inspired by the colors of the world: the soft dance of a breeze, the glow of a golden-hour sunset, the quiet power in nature’s smallest details.
At heart, I’m an optimist. Bright, curious, and always dreaming. That spirit comes alive through my paintings, where whimsical line work meets bold color and emotional storytelling. I work primarily with acrylics while adding in a bit of mixed media, using each piece to capture more than just a subject. My goal is to freeze a feeling, a moment of joy, or a quiet spark of reflection.
Art, for me, is connection. It’s a way to explore the world and share that wonder with others. Whether it’s a delicate figure study or a vibrant landscape, I want my work to uplift, inspire, and leave people just a little more hopeful than before.
